Robert began practicing law as a second career. A native of Virginia, Robert graduated from James Madison University in 1984. He returned to school to obtain his law degree after several years of working in corporate sales and marketing. Robert attended the Florida State University College of Law, where he graduated in 1995 with high honors and was selected to the Order of the Coif.
While at FSU, Robert was a member and executive board member of the Journal of Land Environmental Law. After receiving his law degree, he was active in supporting the College of Law and served as president of the College of Law Alumni Association.
Robert’s practice follows the principle focus of the firm, representing motor vehicle dealers on a variety of commercial and franchise matters. His practice concentrates on dealership mergers and acquisitions and related matters, such as entity formation, structure, and agreements, dealer succession planning, and business law. Robert has represented motorcycle, automobile, and heavy-truck dealers and has successfully closed dealership transactions in 35 states. These transactions include small rural dealerships, large metro dealerships, and multiline auto mall operations. His working knowledge of the dealership transaction process extends to nearly ever automobile brand retailed in the U.S., as well as Harley-Davidson and other motorcycle brands.
During his time with the firm, Robert has addressed dealers, accountants, chief financial officers, bankers, and consultants at numerous conferences on dealership mergers & acquisitions topics. Robert is a member of the Florida and District of Columbia Bars. He is admitted to practice in the courts of those jurisdictions, as well as the United States District Courts of the Northern and Middle District of Florida and the District of Colorado.
